    When carrying, be sure to always securely attach and use the provided strap. Carrying or holding the camcorder by the viewfinder and/or the LCD monitor can result in dropping the unit, or in a malfunction. Take care not to get your finger caught in the cassette holder cover. Do not let children operate the camcorder, as they are particularly susceptible to this type of injury.

    NOTES: In order to maintain optimum performance of the camcorder, provided cables may be equipped with one or more core filter. If a cable has only one core filter, the end that is closest to the filter should be connected to the camcorder.

    VU-V856 KIT: BN-V856U battery pack & AA-V80U AC Power Adapter/Charger Read the kit’s instruction manual before using. Also, by using the optional JVC VC-VBN856U DC Cord, it will be possible to connect BN-V840U or BN-V856U battery packs to the camcorder and supply power directly to the camcorder.

    Loading A Cassette /Unloading A Cassette The camcorder needs to be powered up to load or eject a cassette. Erase protection tab PUSH HERE OPEN/EJECT Switch Loosen the grip strap. Slide and hold OPEN/EJECT in the direction of the arrow, then pull the cassette holder cover open until it locks.

    To load a memory card, firmly insert it with its clipped edge first. To unload a memory card, push it once. After the memory card comes out of the camcorder, pull it out. Do not touch the terminal on the reverse side of the label.

    System Requirements For copying still image files to a PC The following requirements must be satisfied to connect the camcorder to a PC using the USB cable, and to copy still image files from the memory card in the camcorder.

HD Capture Utility This application is used to import MPEG-format video stream from a camcorder, or to export the edited video clip back to the camcorder.     Installing the driver for importing MPEG-format video stream When you connect the camcorder to the PC with an i.LINK cable at first time, the driver is installed. Click [Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)] and then click [Next].
  • Page 102 Installing the drivers for using the camcorder as a web camera When you connect the camcorder to the PC with a USB cable at first time, four drivers are installed in succession. NOTE: Click [Continue Anyway] when the message [Has not passed Windows Logo testing] appears. Be sure not to select [Stop Installation].
  • Page 103 Delete unnecessary files by the operation on the camcorder. If you are using a brand new memory card, you need to initialize the memory card with the camcorder first. You may not be able to copy files from the memory card to the PC without doing so.

    Before replacing memory cards or turning off the PC, first disconnect the USB cable and turn off the camcorder. Confirm that the message [ACCESSING FILES] is not currently displayed on the camcorder’s LCD monitor. If the message [ACCESSING FILES] is currently displayed, wait until it disappears before proceeding.
