Component Installation Turn off the system power before opening the system or connecting or removing any peripheral device. Opening the Housing Place the system unit on a flat, steady surface. Remove the four screws from the rear panel. Set the screws aside. You will need them when replacing the housing cover.

Installing a System Board 2.2.1 ESD Precautions Always observe the following electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions before installing a system component: Do not remove a component from its anti-static packaging until you are ready to install it. Wear a wrist grounding strap before handling electronic components. Wrist grounding straps are available at most electronic component stores.

Install a 3.5-inch disk drive and secure it with the necessary screws. Follow the same procedure to install the hard disk drive. When installing drives in the 3.5-inch drive bay, the hard disk is placed always below of the 3.5-inch diskette drive.
